How do I start a game with a friend?

Choose a color and a time control, create a game, then send the link or the short code. Your friend opens it and sits on the other side. No download.

Do both players need an account?

No. Guests can play a full game. Sign in if you want the result, XP, and rating saved to your profile.

What time controls can I pick?

Blitz: 3 minutes, 3|2, or 5 minutes. Rapid: 10 minutes, 15|10 (default), or 30 minutes. Classical: 1 hour or 2 hours.

What is saved if I sign in?

The result, XP, and a Glicko-2 rating. You can see them on your account and the leaderboard. If only one player is signed in, only that side keeps the rating.

What happens if I close the tab?

Your opponent sees that you left. Open the same link again while the game is still active to come back.

Can someone I do not know join?

Only if you turn on Open game, which lists it in the lobby. A private link stays with the people you send it to.
